Mortimer - English Club is a franchise company whose job it is to privately teach children aged 2 – 12 years, and adults, the English language in a fun and interesting way. Karola Scheer, the founder and director, started the pilot project ‘English for Children’ in 1995; the first franchise partners were trained to be language teachers in 1999. Today, Mortimer – English Club is one of the biggest providers of English language courses, with over 280 Franchise Partners and 3 Master-Fanchise-Partners nationwide. Currently we have international Partners in Hungary, Austria, Italy, Russia, Slovakia and Czech Republic. With our project ‘English for Minis’ we are the first language school in Germany to offer English lessons to 2-4 year olds. Supplementary lessons for competent pupils and private tuition are also part of our programme.
What does a Mortimer- Master-Franchise offer?
A Master-Franchise-Contract gives the Master-Franchise-Partner the right to draw up contracts for the Mortimer Franchise-System with a third party, within a pre-determined contract area.
As a Master-Franchise-Partner you set up a Mortimer-English Club Franchise-System which should cover your contract area, with Franchise-Partners who work regionally. You support the Mortimer English Club Franchise-System in your contract area and develop it further, gradually setting up a chain of Franchise-Partners who work within the region.

With us everything is done with a lot of fun - that's why we are so successful! This has been for many years, the motto of the Mortimer-English Club, which teaches children between the ages of 2 to 14 years, but also adults, the English language in a playful way, according to the method of the native speech acquisition. In 1999, the first franchise partners with Mortimer-English Club where successfully trained and today Mortimer-English Club counts, with over 280 franchise-partners and a total of four system headquarters, to the largest providers in Germany.
Our franchise-partners are being trained intensively in seminars for their new job. They learn the lessons methodology for the children and adults with the unique Mortimer-English Club concept which imparts the English language with a lot of fun.
With the Mortimer-English Club teaching material, children can be taught about 8 years and adults about 5 years and a tutoring concept completes the extensive offerings. The lessons can be held in private rooms, from home or even in your own language school. If you do not want to teach yourself, you take the responsibility for the commercial management of your language school and hire either contractors or a salaried work force.
Self-employment with Mortimer-English Club is a lot of fun, because it allows plenty of room for your own creativity.
